Individual Program Plans (IPPs)
If your child currently has an IPP, their homeroom teacher will be reaching out to you in the coming weeks. Monday, September 29 is the day teachers will be writing the first draft of IPPs and we will send them home for your review and feedback by October 10. Rest assured that if they were in a CBE school last year, we have access to their previous IPP and other assessments. If you are new to CBE, any documentation you have to support any learning or medical needs is helpful as we prepare to best support your student this year. This can be given to the main office directly or via e-mail.
SJF’s FirePit! (aka - the Cafeteria!)
We are so thankful to have Ms. Sue running our incredible cafeteria. Every day, we offer a number of nutritious (and delicious!) food items at a really great price! The full menu, including “special days” is listed below. She takes all methods of payment including debit/credit and Apple Pay.
Additionally, we were fortunate to receive a grant last year in order to offer a free breakfast program at our school. This has allowed us to have fresh fruit, cereal, and hot oatmeal available to any students who find themselves hungry when they get to school. However, our funds have sadly run out. Although I am continuing to apply for a number of grants, if this is something you would like to contribute to, please reach out to me directly at mnwiersma@cbe.ab.ca. It costs between $800-$1000 per month to run this program and we would very much like to continue doing so! Thank you for your consideration.
Athletics
After a week of tryouts, the rosters for Junior Boys Basketball, Junior Girls Basketball and Boys’ Soccer have been posted! Congrats to all those athletes who tried out! Unfortunately, there will not be any senior basketball teams or girls' soccer team this year, as not enough students tried out.
However, starting next week, Mr. Werner will be hosting a new “FireLeague” on Friday afternoons from 1:40-3pm for any Grade 9 students interested! More information will be shared with students this week.
