Health and Safety Reminders

A few gentle reminders for both students and families:

  • Please respect the bus zone in front of the school.  We have 6 large buses - 4 of them have room to park in front of the crosswalk, but 2 of them need space behind the crosswalk, and are sometimes late.  Please do not park/stop in front of the fence by the staff parking lot.  CPS encourages a “walk a block” meet up spot for families who pick up their children to ensure the front of schools remains a safe place for students.  Thank you for helping with this!
  • In the interest of both healthy food choices and mess prevention…SJF is a slurpee/can free zone!!!   We encourage students who wish to buy a slurpee from 7-eleven at lunch to buy the small size to allow them time to finish it before returning to school.
  • As the nice weather returns, students can expect to be spending increasing amounts of time outside!!  Please make sure you remember hats/sunscreen/water bottles/comfortable shoes as you plan for the day!

Bake Sale!

Sir John Franklin will be hosting a Bake Sale at lunch on Wednesday May 8, 2024 to fundraise for our 2024 Grade 9 Celebration of learning. The goal of this bake sale is to help raise funds to purchase decorations and snacks for the ceremony, and to hopefully lower costs on the grade 9 year end field trip.

If you wish to donate any baked goods to this cause, please visit our Microsoft Form. All baked goods must be individually wrapped, and a full list of ingredients must be provided.

We greatly appreciate your support in helping our Grade 9 students celebrate an exciting moment in their academic careers.

If you have any questions, please email Mr. Thompson (rothompson@cbe.ab.ca)

Cafeteria

The cafeteria has been a huge success in its opening 2 weeks! Ms. Sue is adjusting amounts every day based on sales, so if your first choice wasn’t available this week…keep trying!  And we are excited to announce that we now have access to Debit/Credit!  Daily specials will be added as we continue to grow!
