SJF Update | WAG
A few exciting things happening this week that I wanted to make sure weren’t missed! The usual calendar of events is below:
Artist in Residence
We are excited to announce that SJF has been awarded a grant through the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. Expect to hear more as we welcome Artist in Residence Mika Haykowski to SJF on Tuesday, October 1 for our kickoff!
Guest Speaker Grades 6-9
We are also happy to welcome Corporal Anita Swanson from LUNA, Calgary’s Child and Youth Advocacy Centre, to speak to our students about consent, body safety, and social media safety on October 3. The Grade 6's from Mayland Heights and Belfast will also be joining us. This presentation was created to ensure students can make safe and informed decisions as they move into the next phase of their adolescence in the digital age.
Basketball/Soccer and all things sports!
Although I mentioned this briefly last week, I wanted to ensure accurate information was shared with families. Our basketball division chair reminded all schools that student guests are not permitted at ANY game without a parent/guardian with them. When we are hosting games at SJF, student spectators without a parent/guardian are welcome for the FIRST game only (providing SJF is scheduled to play the first game). When SJF spectators are asked to leave at 5:30, we kindly ask that they leave school property, as we do not have supervision outside at that time. Students wishing to return for subsequent games must come back with a parent or guardian.
