Leadership initiative: Food Bank Drive

Our Grade 9 Leadership students are taking on a few charity-based projects between now and Christmas.  First, on Wednesday, December 6, they would like to host a Bake Sale, to raise funds for the Food Bank.  If you are willing/able to contribute, please bring your individually wrapped baked goods to the office on Tuesday, December 5th or the morning of Wednesday, December 6.  (Please also include an ingredient list, in case of allergies)

Secondly, starting the week of December 11, they will be organizing a food drive…more information on this to come next week.  

Casino Volunteers Needed!

Hello SJF Parents,

We have our major fundraiser coming up on January 17 and 18, 2024. This is our casino that we do about every 18 months, this year we are at Pure Casino (off Barlow and 16th). The funds we receive from these events allows us to reduce the amount of fundraising that we do annually to pay for field trips, technology and in school experiences that are typically not funded by the CBE.

For these events, we are required to have a total of 40 positions staffed with volunteers between the two days (18 positions and 2 backups per day). Some people volunteer for one shift, some people don't mind doing two.

There are three shifts per day. The day shift runs from 11:00AM to 7:15PM, the night shift runs from 7:00PM to 3:45AM and the courtroom runs from 11:00PM to 3:45AM. Each shift takes 6 volunteers to man, we have an advisor in the cash cage and another in the count room who will teach you how to do the position that you sign up for, a meal is provided and the proceeds we receive the following quarter allows us to better support the school.
