Winter is Coming…

A reminder to please DRESS FOR THE WEATHER!!  Students go outside every day during the second half of lunch, and often during PE and recess (for our younger students).  As per CBE policies, this will continue throughout the winter unless it is -20°C or colder.  Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather (even if they’re in junior high and think they’re too cool for a coat!!)

Halloween is Coming!

I know students at SJF take Halloween VERY seriously!!  As they are making their final plans and preparations for potential costumes, a few important reminders!

  • Learning needs to continue!!  We will be in regular classes for periods 1-4.  Please make sure costumes allow for sitting and regular school work.
  • No weapons of any kind (not even pretend ones), or ‘realistic gore’.  This can be too much for some…and we want school to still feel safe and welcoming, despite the festivities!
  • No full face coverage (masks, bodysuits, etc.)...face paint is totally okay!!
  • There will be a variety of inclusive activities held during periods 5/6, including an optional dance for the Grade 7-9 students.  Respectful/appropriate student behaviour will remain an expectation.

Also, just a reminder that Halloween candy is NOT to be brought to school.  Filling bodies with sugar all day long is NOT conducive to learning!!  Please save these treats for after school at home.  Thanks for your support with this, as we would like to have a great week of learning, despite Tuesday’s excitement!

Breakfast Program is Here…But We Need Help!

We are looking for some volunteers who can pick up donations from a place in Forest Lawn (about 6 minutes from the school) every Friday at 2pm, and some volunteers to set-up/supervise/tidy up the cafeteria each morning (8:30-9:30).  If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up here
